Firecracker Craft for CNY

Chinese New Year is just round the corner, so the Little Mini Makers finally got round to making CNY decorations for our house.
We decided to make firecrackers decorations since we have many spare red packets or "ang paos" to brighten up our home.

Materials Needed:
- Red packets (20 pieces)
- String
- Tape
- Stapler
- Tail



1. First roll up the red packet and staple the ends together.

 Make 20 of these rolls. 10 for each side of the firecracker.

2. Next tie up the top of the string in a loop to hang the firecrackers. Then cut out a small piece of string and tie it on the original string like so. This part is to stick the firecrackers to it, one on each side.

 3. Use sticky tape to stick the inside of the firecracker to the small string.

 4. Continue adding the small string below, and then stick the firecrackers to it.

 5. Repeat this process until you have finished sticking all 20 firecrackers. 10 on each side.

6. Lastly, stick the tail onto the end of the firecrackers. And this is the completed firecracker all ready to be hung.

Simple Ribbon Clips Craft

Mummy has been very interested in making kiddie clips for children as I wanted to make use of the big bag of plain clips I recently bought (50 pieces for $11.50 bought at Jalan Sultan).
Today, I went shopping for craft materials at Chinatown and came across some very pretty ribbons at this big craft store called Golden Dragon.

Some of the pretty ribbons costs between $0.70-$1.50 per meter.
I find this place quite well-stocked and reasonably priced for craft materials.
There are some other beads stores within People's Park Centre that you can also browse around to look for materials. Highly recommended to check this place out.

Materials Needed:
1. Metals Clips
2. Grosgrain ribbons
3. Scissors
4. Hot glue gun

1. First, measure then cut out 14cm of the ribbon to make a bow for one clip. You will also need to to cut out another 4cm of the ribbon to wrap around the centre of the bow.

2. To make 4 clips, cut out 4 pieces of 14cm ribbons and 4 pieces of 4cm ribbons.

3. Pinch the ribbon to the back, then hot glue (a little glue will do) to stick it to place.
Do the same for the other side and glue it down.

4. Next wrap around the centre of the bow using the 4cm ribbon. Use a little hot glue to glue it down.

 5. Lastly, hot glue the bottom of the bow. Then paste it onto the metal clip like so.

Here you have it - a simple ribbon craft project that will cost you less than a dollar and less than 5 minutes to make!
You can let your little girl wear the pretty cute clips to school or even make these as party favours for your daughter's birthday party.
They are simple, easy & also cheap to make, yet they look so cute!

Maleficient Paper Roll Craft

Hello guys, the Mini Makers are so glad to be back... this time with a craft project.
We just caught Maleficient in the cinema today on its premiering week, and we loved Angelina Jolie's titular character so much that we decided to get started with our own version of a toilet roll craft for her Maleficient character.

Materials Needed:
1. Magic pens
2. Black marker pen
3. Toilet Roll
4. Goggly eyes
5. Scissors (optional)

1. Use a pencil to draw an outline of Maleficient's face.
Then use the black marker pen to trace over it.

2. Colour in Maleficient's horns using a black marker pen.

3. Next paste her eyes in and colour her mouth red.
Outline her eyes, nose and mouth using the black marker pen.

This is how Maleficient should look like.

4. The next step is optional. We decided to cut out Maleficient's horns to make them stand out a bit more so that they look more 3D.

Here she is... Maleficient, the hero and villian all rolled into one... made from toilet paper roll.

Minion Paper Roll Craft

Hi guys, the Little Mini Makers made a very cute Minion paper roll craft a few months' ago, but we had been too busy to post it up on our blog. Finally, here it is. We made this cute little guy using unwanted toilet paper roll and an old blue glittery nail polish.

Materials Needed:
1. Toilet roll
2. Yellow construction paper
3. Blue nail polish (or blue paint)
4. Large goggly eye
5. Black marker
6. Super glue


Materials needed are here. But pls ignore the yellow ice-cream sticks.
They are not needed for this craft.

1. Wrap the toilet roll with yellow construction paper.
2. Use a pencil to draw the Minion's eye, mouth and overall.
3. Then use the blue glittery nail polish to paint his overall, and let it dry.
4. Then use super glue to paste on the large goggly eye.
5. Lastly, use the black marker to outline his eye, mouth and overall.

There you have it --- your very own cute little Minion using old unwanted items!


We also came across a cafe in The Cathay called Bricks 'n' Cubes which had cute little Minions made of legos. Here are some pics for you to enjoy.

CD Craft1

Hello Guys,
The Little Mini Makers are back with yet another CD craft as Mummy has been receiving more CDs as company financial reports. :)
Today we are making a cute elephant & an octopus with googly eyes.

Materials Needed:
- CDs
- Blue paper (elephant)
- Yellow paper (octopus)
- Goggly eyes
- Glue
- Marker pen
- Scissors
- Twine string

Materials for Elephant:


Materials for Octopus:


1. Draw out the shapes of the elephant ears and nose on the blue paper as shown.
For the octopus, draw eight tentacles and a small nose on the yellow paper.



2. Cut them out then glue them on the CDs.





3. Paste the googly eyes on the CDs.

4. Lastly, stick twine string above the CD to hold it up.
